Did you know that you can double your gift to BLB? Many companies have matching gift programs and will match your gift to charitable organizations. Some employers will even double or triple your gift! Speak to your Human Resources Department regarding their charitable contributions today!

You can honor a special person or a special event with a gift to Be Like Brit. When you make a donation in honor of someone, an acknowledgment will be sent to that person listing your name and address as a tribute gift donor. It will not list the amount of your donation, unless you specify otherwise. If you are celebrating a special occasion, you can also list Be Like Brit as your charitable organization and ask that in lieu of gifts, donations made be made to BLB. This is a wonderful way to help support the efforts of Be Like Brit and at the same time spreading the word about the great work we are doing. (Include a photo of one of BLB’s younger donors who asked for donations to BLB in place of birthday gifts!)

Be Like Brit also accepts gifts of securities. Please provide your broker with detailed instructions of how you would like to make the gift to BLB including the name of the stock and the number of shares to be transferred from your account to Be Like Brit. These stocks may be transferred to: Following the transfer, please call BLB at (508) 886 - 4500 to let us know the name of the stock and the number of shares transferred. This information helps us to identify your gift and provide you with the proper acknowledgment

Host an Event to help others learn about BLB. We’re happy to come to speak to your attendees to give them all the information about what we do!

Silent Auction Item Donations

If you work for, or have connections to a business that can donate items or gift certificates, we are always looking for items to offer during our fundraising events’ auctions and raffles. These donations help us to raise even more money during our events!

Bequests

Often when finalizing their wills, in addition to providing for their families and loved ones, individuals elect to provide donations to charitable organizations as part of their list of bequests. Bequests are an important way of ensuring support to your chosen charities once your estate has been distributed. In addition, your estate will be allowed a tax deduction for the amount of your bequest. Be Like Brit benefits greatly from the bequests of generous individuals with the forethought to provide lasting assistance to our programs and services.

Life Estate Contract

A donor may choose to establish a life estate contract through which he or she transfers ownership of a real estate deed to Be Like Brit while reserving the right for him/herself or other designated parties to live on the property or use it for life. Charitable tax deductions for life estate contracts are limited to properties that are personal residences.

Charitable Gift Annuities

Through a charitable gift annuity, an individual can create a contract with Be Like Brit in which he/she agrees to donate cash, stocks or other assets in exchange for a mutually agreed upon amount of income for life. In this way, the donor is providing for guaranteed income in his/her future while also ensuring needed support for Be Like Brit

Charitable Lead Trusts

A charitable lead trust offers donors the tax-wise opportunity to transfer assets to a trust that provides income to Be Like Brit for a specified period of time. At the end of that period, the trust reverts either back to the donor or a person designated by the donor.

Charitable Remainder Trust

By establishing a charitable remainder trust, an individual is able to transfer his/her assets into a trust while retaining a fixed or variable income for life. In this way, he/she realizes significant tax benefits, secures future income, determines future distributions to his/her beneficiaries and ensures support for Be Like Brit. Be Like Brit is awarded the remainder of the trust's worth after the death of the last beneficiary.

Pooled Income Fund

Through a pooled income fund, a common trust is established to which many donors can make contributions and retain for themselves a pro rata share of the fund's earnings each year. Following the death of a beneficiary, Be Like Brit receives the value of the fund that is attributable to that individual. This type of fund is similar to a mutual fund and provides many financial and estate planning benefits to the donor.

Event Volunteer

BLB is always looking for volunteers to help us with our four events every year. We have a Golf Tournament in June, a Walk in September, a Gala in November and a Bowling event in April. Operations Center Volunteer

Keeping BLB running smoothly requires much hard work and organization. We receive dozens of donations each day and we’re always looking for volunteers who can come to the Operations Center in Worcester to help us organize the donations and pack them up for shipment to Haiti. We are also always in search of volunteers that can assist us with data entry tasks.
